All in a day's work :)

This morning I was blessed with 5 healthy kits from "Lela" our opal doe from Stitch and Cloey. She was bred to Hollywood Dun It, being this is only his 2nd litter and his 1st litter we didn't keep anything from, we are especially looking forward to this litter. There are 3 dilute, and 2 black something-or-others.
Figured out our Pear Blossom entry, although we won't name names because I don't want them molting! ugh. One is coming off a molt, but the others look good. I think they molted though this winter so they should last a good while.
We also, and get this, FINALLY started on the ditch for the automatic water! My boyfriend broke the escavator in Portland on a job about a month ago so I had to do this one by hand. 65 feet 8 inches deep! But the piping will go in while I am gone and we should have water running (no hoses involved) to the rabbit barn soon! So I will go pull out my KW magazine again and figure out what I need! :)
Until later... for now I am posting a picture of my favorite doe MAD taking a snooze. She follows in the footsteps of her Grandma, Milkhouse's Jaws, photo of Lisa Davis at Milkhouse Lops Rabbitry. [we also used to have a pic of Mad's mom Sugar, taking a snooze... i'll try to find it] We are very fortunate to have recieved such nice animals from Lisa :) Can't thank you enough.

Updates

Sorry for my lack of blogging.... I have a lot to report, just haven't had the time.

10 bunnies left in the last 2 days. 9 left for their new homes in N. Oregon and S. Washington yesterday. 5 of them were babies, but 4 were seniors.

I sold a young buck to a girl from CA today. We possibly got 2 does bred to him before he left. He was looking very nice, but we'll take a baby from him. On the 23rd we bred Klara and SourCream today, but we put SourCream back in with him today and he got her this time for sure. Now just hope she takes.

There are just 7 babies left from the January litters. 3 which we are keeping (HHD Chestnut Doe, RMM Bkn Opal Doe, LGER Opal doe). The Bkn Opal from Renee and the Bkn Chestnut from Gigi will leave next weekend, which leaves us with one chestnut & one bkn chestnut bucks available. Honey and Gigi are also ready to go now that they have weaned their litters.

Bridget kindled to 3 kits... I am drawing a blank on their DOB, but they are about 2 weeks I think now. I checked them today and there is 2 bucks and 1 doe. So, we will keep the doe because we have no need for bucks at this time.

Lela can be due from March 5th to March 15th, since Teri did a live-in breeding with her.

We are back to using 21 cages on one wall. We really haven't advertised our sale cages, but we plan on selling them soon. That way we will be forced to keep an even smaller rabbitry.

Picked up 100 lbs of feed today. I was amazed to see how much it had gone up, but then again gas is 3.44 / gallon in southern Oregon!

Pear Blossom's entries are due soon. I have an idea of who I will show but I have to keep it limited. I am the registrar for the day and I have been asked to clerk/ramrod for one of the busier judges. Pear Blossom is always a show to keep you on your toes, for sure. At any rate, will bring 4-5 to show, and about 4 to sell. :)

My horse is losing her furry winter coat. She always looks adorable this time of year :) I have to make an appointment for my dog Chopper, time for him to get his check up/shots. I can't believe that pup is already 3!

School is getting to me, I will be very happy for spring break :)

I will get some updates done on the website tonite.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well it seems like the weeks are just flying by.... I am home for the weekend, for many reasons.

This evening I picked up 4 rabbits from Teri. She was forced to sell out of the Mini's due to unavoidable circumstances, however we decided to take back 2 of them and the other 2 we had already a potential buyer.

So, LHHR's BP2 (Velotta's Boomer x LHHR's Peppercini) Chinchilla Sr. Buck 3 junior legs in CA shows. Despite a little lack of condition he doesn't look half bad. LHHR's CVR (Velotta's ReCurring Vision x Milkhouse's Cloey) Opal Sr. Doe, *GC pending 2 junior & 1 Sr. leg came back as well. She is hopefully bred to LHHR's Hollywood Dun It, a buck that also came back to us. I had to move a couple rabbits around and use some cages we haven't used in a while. But we made it work.

If all goes well, LHHR's Hollywood Dun It, LHHR's Lil Gigi, LHHR's RW4 & Velotta's Renee will all head up north the beginning of March. We have holds on our other 2 does & 2 babies as well. Renee will be replaced with a bkn opal doe (w/milk-dipped ears). I haven't looked, but I'm almost positive she's the only doe in the litter. Gigi will be replaced with a doe from her litter. We have our eye on 3 of them, 2 of which we know are does. Honey's babies, we haven't paid much attention to (a litter of 7 solid chesnuts is somewhat.... boring) But we will be keeping the best doe.

So that leaves us with 2 bucks for sale.... I want to get rid of them asap because I need to get those "back-up" cages free and open again.

The Rabbit Rally will not go on this year. I really was late in thinking of it, which I would just be too stressed to pull it off anyways... especially around finals.

The hay is pretty much 1/2 way gone. I swear it was just yesterday when Mike had surprised me by having the hay stacked in the barn when I came home... but wow! We will have to get hay earlier this summer... ugh

Klara didn't kindle. 2nd time now....2 different bucks. We will try her with OHI since we want to move him on anyways. Bridget is due next week! Yay!

The two bunnies I got from Rebecca are settling in. I considered showing them since they are the ONLY juniors I will have this spring, but I don't know how colored bunnies will handle the competition down here. So most likely I will just have a show string of younger seniors.

Tomorrow I am going to a memorial/party. Not sure really what to call it, but in my boyfriend's grandparent's last wishes were for no one to mourn, but to celebrate and be happy. Each of them were older and had lived great lives... and knowing them pretty well I miss them!

Sunday will be spent cleaning the rabbit barn and looking at all the rabbits! I will try to get updated pictures/info but I won't guarntee anything... Monday I will be home working on homework....aka back to life in the fast lane.

I may put up some updates tomorrow. :)

Updates

I came here to do a minor update and decided to post a blog......

Took a day to fully clean the barn.... amongst that was cleaning all trays while it was snowing out and very cold. I can say it was quite painful afterwards. Nest boxes were cleaned and boy, do we have some cute babies!

Honey has 7 babies, all chestnuts. We will keep only one, the best DOE. Honey will then be replaced. Renee has 5 babies. A blue buck, a bkn opal buck (lacking nose markings) a bkn opal doe (with milk-tipped ears...... most likely the one we are keeping!) a chestnut buck and a opal buck I think. Renee will then be replaced. Bridget is due on 2/19 and if all goes well, she and Drizzt will be replaced. Gigi has 7 babies... 2 bkn black steel, 2 bkn chestnut, 1 opal, 1 chinchilla and 1 blue silver tipped steel doe (which we will most likely keep) We are considering keeping Gigi around for another litter. If not we will be completely satisfied with 4 awesome kids from her! She has been one awesome doe for us and I am very sad to move her on!
Klara is due 2/12 to Stitch. She is looking very motherly.

We got the bunnies from Marie. My cousin's cream doe was cute, but the lynx doe and orange buck we got were too cute! They are small, but since they will be our ONLY juniors for this spring, we may take them to Pear Blossom, who knows really.

Speaking of Pear Blossom.... With under 2 months left, I tried composing a possible show list. The list has gotten so short lately it's unbelievable.

Back to life. Will try to post more updates soon.

Woo Hoo!

Well, we haven't been able to update our site since the end of December. I was able to make an update at school, which told me the problem was MY computer.

I had recently done an update on AOL, so I assumed that was the origin of the problem, but I didn't know what it was or how to fix it.

So I let it sit, hoping that the problem would "resolve itself" but with the needed updates growing bigger and bigger, I went to TroubleShooting this morning and read all the info. I followed all the steps. I downloaded Java, even though I already had it, and I turned off pop up blocker.

I tried again and.... It worked!

So I was able to update a few pages, my computer crashed and THEN when I went to upload the login would fail. So then I had to go through a million other steps to fix that problem.

So I am able to update again, cross your fingers that it lasts so I can share all my new stuff! Look for updates in a few hours.

New Bunnies

RD's Murphy's Law (Reg, Tri) X RD's Fireside (Brk Orange)
Orange Junior Buck
"RD's Plank Hero"

Velotta's Teddy (Reg, Chestnut) X RD's Impossible Dream (Choco/Orange Tri)
Lynx Junior Doe
"RD's Kallie"
Yes, you must be asking why I am bringing in new bunnies when I have been trying to reduce my herd. I promise there is a reasonable explanation. I sell two rabbits, I bring home two rabbits. Therefore I am still on the same square, while helping out another breeder bring in new lineage, and myself, bring in new colors. Rebecca's pair will leave next Friday, and I will get my pair after the St. Helens show.
And on an even brigther note, I got Velotta's Bridget bred today!

Cold temperatures bring new litters!

Gigi had 7 babies to Exclusively Roman on Jan. 15th!
Renee had 5 babies to Mr. Miami on Jan. 16th!
Honey had 8 babies to Drizzt on Jan 18th!

Horray for live, healthy warm litters!

I forgot to mention I bred Klara to Stitch last week.

Bridget will be bred to Drizzt tomorrow.... (hopefully)

that's all the updates I have for now....
